True Trust

It's hard to trust Pictures, Images and Photos

When we are first born it’s in our nature to trust those around us, but when we grow into adults, how hard is it to trust those that have hurt us? As I write and scoop the loops, I cringe sometimes, thinking I have to post something there, but always wondering who’s going to come along and attack what I post.

Over the past couple of years, I’ve seen authors, publishing houses and readers attack each other with no consideration for one another. Maybe I’m naïve, and just want to believe that there is always good in everyone, but once again, in my personal life, I’ve found this not to be true.

How can one survive in today’s world when one is surrounded by liars who are only out for themselves? I’ve always loved to write and to find new friends, but lately I’ve just sat back and took stock of those around me. I guess you could say I was trying to figure out where I want to go next in the journey we call life.

Of course I’ll always write, but I’ve closed ranks to those I don’t trust. However, the other day I did something I don’t usually do. While surfing the internet, I went to a website I go to just to let loose and enjoy reading, and someone grabbed my attention. His profile and his blogs were amazing. They drew me in like no one has for years and I’m talking on a personal level.

Have you ever found someone you didn’t know, but yet for some reason you could totally open up to this person? That your gut is telling you there is something there. Well, this is what happened to me. Of course, I didn’t go overboard, and I still keep everything close to the heart, but I did contact him and ask for some small advice.

Boy, did I get a shock! The letter he sent me and the information he sent was priceless. I’m still sorting through the information he gave me. Am I still afraid to open up more to him? You bet! How could someone who only knew what I told him, know me so well?

I still go to his profile and read it, drawing comfort from it. His blogs are like magnets drawing me closer. The education, the honesty and warmth from his messages, makes me want to learn more about myself and this person.

But alas, in this world I’ve been hurt too many times to totally open to a stranger let alone a friend. How does someone know when to actually trust someone with their dreams, fantasies, and hopes?

I guess this leads me back to being an author. Can I trust other authors to help and guide me? Or will they turn their claws into my back once I turn around? How many true friends or love ones do you really trust? For me, it’s simple, only a few, but once again, I’m hoping to build one more to add to my collection of friends. I guess each day we search for those that will guide and help us in our lives. Will you be that person?
